Fire and Forgiveness

My new novel, Fire and Forgiveness-a Trilogy has Books One and Two now available. The Third will be released August 17. It’s about Barry Brown, a young catholic boy’s struggle to make sense of his religion while suffering bullying. All this started when he stole an altar candle after serving his first Mass. The bullying back then came from the leader of a gang of altar boys, Jimmy Staples. Later, while in seminary, Jimmy’s older brother, Father Thomas Staples, continues the harassment eventually getting Barry kicked out. Through all of this, Barry has an unnatural fascination with sacred objects, especially lit candles. This fascination leads to the accidental lighting of fires at home and thoughts of getting even with a fire. Barry’s earnest desire to do what’s right keeps getting derailed by many disorienting experiences, the worst causing him to lose his faith in God for awhile. He needs help but his search will last a long time.
