A Second Look

While I traveled through

The back pages of my mind

In search of something meaningful

To calm my awareness of failure,

I realized under layers of

Forgotten dreams

That my heart had been disappointed

To the Point of Despair

Leaving me empty,

And with a feeling of total loss

For words or ideas, to compensate

For lost time and lost ideals

Sadly broken and torn with grief

I quietly put my mind together

And, walking away slowly,

I tried again once more.
